The Lough Canopy was designed to shelter the local community from the ever changing summer months. During the summer , events such as céiles  would be organised involving almost every member of the community. Such gatherings created an event space which would  be interrupted by inclement weather. This canopy could fold back entirely into the ground , thus becoming almost unnoticeable during daytime hours.
